    Location: Remote with NYC-based collaboration as needed

    Works Closely With: PromisePress Editorial Team, Children’s Books Review Writers, Journalism & Storytelling Teams

    Mentor A Promise (MAP) is a New York City–based nonprofit dedicated to empowering youth experiencing housing instability through mentorship, education, and community. Through storytelling, publishing, and creative expression, MAP works to elevate voices, restore dignity, and create pathways of imagination and opportunity for young people and their families.

    About PromiseStories | Editorial & Publishing

    PromiseStories is MAP’s storytelling and publishing ecosystem. Through blogs, journalism, books, podcasts, and media projects, the division amplifies youth voices, highlights community experiences, and shares insights on education, housing, culture, and social impact.

    Role Overview

    We are seeking a Director of Blogs to lead MAP’s blog strategy, editorial standards, and contributor network. This role oversees the planning, development, and publication of written content that reflects MAP’s mission, values, and public voice.

    The Director of Blogs ensures the blog platform remains a thoughtful space for storytelling, analysis, and community perspectives related to youth, education, housing, culture, and civic engagement.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Lead the overall editorial direction and strategy for MAP’s blog platform
    • Establish blog publishing standards, tone, and content guidelines
    • Recruit and support volunteer writers, editors, and contributors
    • Develop an editorial calendar aligned with MAP initiatives and storytelling priorities
    • Oversee blog posts, essays, commentary pieces, and book reviews
    • Collaborate with PromisePress and journalism teams on cross-platform storytelling
    • Ensure content reflects dignity-centered storytelling and ethical representation
    • Maintain organized editorial workflows and publication schedules
    • Maintain timely, professional responsiveness via email and chat in Google Workspace

    Qualifications

    Required

    • Strong writing, editing, and editorial leadership experience
    • Ability to manage multiple contributors and editorial timelines
    • Experience in journalism, blogging, publishing, or digital media
    • Strong communication and organizational skills
    • Alignment with MAP’s mission and dignity-centered values

    Preferred

    • Experience managing blog platforms or digital publications
    • Background in journalism, publishing, or editorial management
    • Interest in youth development, housing policy, or social impact storytelling
    • Experience working with nonprofit or advocacy communications

    Commitment

    • Volunteer leadership role
    • Approximately 5–10 hours per week
    • Minimum 6-month commitment preferred
    • Fully remote with optional NYC-based collaboration
