Mentor A Promise (MAP) is a New York City–based nonprofit dedicated to supporting children and youth experiencing housing instability through mentorship, literacy, and social-emotional learning (SEL). Our work centers dignity, equity, and accountability—ensuring that every program delivers meaningful, measurable, and human-centered outcomes.

About PromiseMeasure | Impact & Learning

PromiseMeasure is MAP’s division responsible for monitoring, evaluation, learning, and impact. The division ensures that MAP not only delivers programs, but understands their effectiveness, continuously improves them, and communicates impact responsibly to stakeholders, partners, and the communities we serve.

    Role Overview

We are seeking a Director of Impact to lead MAP’s impact measurement, evaluation strategy, and learning systems. This role ensures that program outcomes are clearly defined, tracked, and continuously improved through ethical, trauma-informed, and data-driven practices.

The Director of Impact will translate research, data, and program activity into meaningful insights, helping MAP understand and demonstrate its impact while strengthening program quality and accountability.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Lead development of impact measurement frameworks across MAP programs
    • Define key performance indicators (KPIs) and outcome metrics aligned with organizational goals
    • Oversee program evaluation processes and continuous improvement systems
    • Collaborate with Research and Data teams to align measurement and analysis
    • Translate data and research findings into actionable insights for program teams
    • Support development of impact reports for stakeholders, partners, and funders
    • Ensure ethical, trauma-informed, and dignity-centered evaluation practices
    • Align impact measurement with PromiseInsight platform development
    • Collaborate with Policy & Advocacy teams to connect impact data to systems change efforts
    • Maintain timely, professional responsiveness via email and chat in Google Workspace

    Qualifications

    Required

    • Experience developing KPIs, outcome frameworks, and evaluation systems
    • Strong analytical, writing, and communication skills
    • Ability to translate data into strategic insights
    • Alignment with MAP’s mission and dignity-centered values

    Preferred

    • Advanced degree in public policy, evaluation, social sciences, or related field
    • Experience in nonprofit, education, or youth-serving organizations
    • Familiarity with mixed-methods evaluation approaches
    • Experience with data visualization or reporting tools

    Commitment

    • Approximately 5–10 hours per week
    • Minimum 6-month commitment preferred
    • Fully remote with optional NYC-based collaboration

    What You’ll Gain

    • Leadership experience shaping impact strategy in a mission-driven organization
    • Opportunity to define how MAP measures success and growth
    • Collaboration with research, data, program, and policy teams
    • Professional references and letters of recommendation
    • Meaningful role advancing accountability and evidence-based practice
