Volunteers are needed to spend time with our hospice patients in the Deer Park, Pasadena, La Porte, Clear Lake, Webster, Texas City, Galveston, Baytown and Channelview areas.
Enhabit Hospice is seeking compassionate individuals to join our volunteer team and provide support to patients and their families during a very challenging time. We offer several volunteer opportunities including:
Direct Patient Care: Provide companionship, emotional support and practical assistance to patients and their families in a facility or their private home.
Administrative Support - Assist the volunteer coordinator or other staff in the office, answering phones, processing bereavement letters or cards, putting intake packets together or just simply decorating for an upcoming celebration!
Specialized Support - If you have specific or specialized skills you bring to the table, I have a spot for you! Currently I am looking for the following specialties:
A Veteran who is interested in volunteering for our veteran patients.
I am also looking for a volunteer with a therapy pet! Many of our patients are not able to spend much time with animals as they may be bed bound and they miss that connection. They understand how dogs can be very therapeutic and it makes them happy to have a furry friend stop by and see them!
Also those who may have the following skills are always in need: cut hair, play instruments, sew, craft, or sing, please reach out to me!
Some of our patients just want someone to sit and play a game of dominoes or cards with them!
Being a hospice volunteer also has its rewards: You will be making a meaningful impact for our patients and their families. When a family is facing losing one of their own, the comfort, compassion and peace you bring just by being there, often times makes a world of difference to them.
As a hospice volunteer, you will gain valuable experience by developing greater skills in compassion, communication and end-of-life care.
Enhabit also provides comprehensive training and ongoing support to all of our valuable volunteers. We love to celebrate our volunteers! We hold an annual volunteer appreciation event every April as well as fun events throughout the year!
Our offices are located in the Pasadena, Richmond, and The Woodlands area but we have patients all over the Greater Houston Area. The training would be done in our Pasadena office, but the opportunity would be in one of the areas listed above. We try to match you with a family closest to your area of town so volunteers will not have to drive too far.
Due to the nature of the patients’ conditions each volunteer will have to go through required training to volunteer with our patients. The process to become a volunteer takes a little bit but the rewards of giving your time to these patients is beyond measure.
If you are interested, please email me and lets get an interview set up. During the interview I will go over our hospice program with you and in turn, you will be able to ask any questions you may have.
Thank you and I look forward to meeting you!
