Mesa location - Senior Volunteer needed, twice weekly preferred

For this opportunity we are looking for a volunteer who can give 2-3 hours a couple days a week to be a friendship companion for one of our sweet hospice patients and to give her family a respite break.

If you have a kind heart, are a good listener, and want your volunteer time to feel truly meaningful, this opportunity may be the perfect fit.

The volunteer location is near Broadway and Greenfield in Mesa.

WHAT DOES THIS OPPORTUNITY LOOK LIKE?

• • Being a friend
  • Have a conversation about life
  • Sit and listen to music or watch TV together
  • Be present if the patient is sleeping

The volunteer will not do any medical care or patient lifting.

If this sounds good, you will receive hospice classroom training, supplemental healthcare training, and will have a joint first patient visit with the volunteer coordinator so you feel confident and comfortable.

REQUIREMENTS:

• • Valid Arizona Driver's License
  • You must 18 or older
  • A negative Tuberculosis test result (you can bring a test result from your doctor or we can do this test in training)
  • Background check
  • Drug Screening
  • Two-hour training class
  • Take home test and exercises corresponding to classroom training
  • Have a reliable schedule so our patient and her family can depend on you
