Be part of a growing movement building health, community power, and self-determination in the Black community. The One Africa! One Nation! Farmers Market is calling on dedicated volunteers to help bring this vision to life during our 2026 season in North St. Louis.

Our Mission

To ensure access to fresh, healthy food for the Black community, end food apartheid, and build sustainable community commerce by strengthening relationships with Black farmers and vendors — advancing a real path toward African self-reliance and self-determination.

Why Volunteer?

This is more than a farmers market — it’s a space where culture, health, and economic power come together. From fresh produce and African and Caribbean cuisine to local entrepreneurship and community programming, the market is a living example of what self-determined communities can build.

Volunteer Role

Be part of the crew that makes the One Africa! One Nation! Farmers Market happen! Our Set-Up Team arrives 2 hours before the market opens to transform a space into a vibrant hub of community, culture, food, and commerce.

Volunteers will help unload the U-Haul, set up tables, tents, chairs, and other market equipment, assist vendors with getting their spaces ready, and make sure the market is welcoming and organized before the community arrives.

This is a hands-on opportunity to support Black farmers, food producers, local entrepreneurs, and community members while helping create a space that challenges food apartheid and builds community self-determination.

Great for: People who enjoy working with their hands, teamwork, early mornings, and being behind the scenes making things happen.
