Responsibilities include:
- Keeps in touch with the youth once per week, for the duration of the repair process (typically 2-3 months);
- Attends the youth's Harm Repair Circle and Closing Circle;
- Helps the youth keep track of repair agreement items and breaks them into achievable steps; connects the youth to relevant resources;
- Highlights and encourages the “sparks”—the things that excite, motivate, and inspire the individual youth;
- Empowers the voice, choice, and dignity of the youth.
Support Mentors complete our foundational training series, "Foundations of Community-Based Restorative Practices," prior to volunteering.
