Do you love space exploration, history, and connecting with people? Join the American Space Museum as a volunteer docent and help bring the people, achievements, and challenges of America’s space program to life for visitors of all ages.

Our docents guide visitors through the museum, share the stories behind our exhibits and artifacts, and create engaging experiences that spark curiosity. You don’t need to be a space expert to get started—just bring your enthusiasm, communication skills, and willingness to learn.

We warmly welcome both space-industry veterans and enthusiastic supporters of space exploration. If you have firsthand experience, your personal stories and insights can offer visitors a rare and authentic perspective. If you are new to the field, we’ll provide the training and resources you need to become a confident museum storyteller.

What You’ll Do

• Lead engaging tours for individuals, families, school groups, and visitors from around the world.
• Share the history of America’s space program and explain the stories behind museum exhibits and artifacts.
• Answer visitor questions and encourage conversation, curiosity, and discovery.
• Adapt your presentation to engage guests of different ages, backgrounds, and levels of knowledge.
• Use our tour script as a foundation while adding your own personality, insights, and stories.
• Help create a welcoming and memorable experience for every visitor.

What We’re Looking For

• A genuine interest in space exploration and its history.
• Comfort speaking with and engaging groups of people.
• A friendly, dependable, and welcoming approach.
• A willingness to learn and participate in docent training.
• Space-industry, teaching, public-speaking, or museum experience is helpful but not required.
