Adoption Coordinator

About the Role:

The Happy Pet Project is looking for friendly, detail-oriented volunteers to serve as Adoptions Coordinators — compassionate communicators who help match our rescue dogs with their perfect families. As an Adoptions Coordinator, you’ll be the first point of contact for potential adopters, guiding them through the process, sharing details about our pets, and ensuring every match is a thoughtful and successful one.

What We’re Looking For:

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Friendly, approachable, and comfortable having open conversations with potential adopters.
• Ability to stay organized, respond promptly, and manage multiple inquiries.
• Compassionate, professional demeanor with a focus on supporting both adopters and fosters.
• Previous experience in rescue, adoption counseling, or customer service is a plus but not required.

What You’ll Do:

• Communicate with potential adopters via phone call and text
• Discuss general pet care, adoption readiness, and information about the specific dog(s) of interest.
• Answer questions and help guide adopters through the adoption process.
• Collaborate with foster families to coordinate meet-and-greets.
• Keep accurate notes and updates within our internal communication channels.
• Work closely with the foster, medical, and intake teams to ensure smooth transitions for adopted dogs.

Time Commitment:

Expect to dedicate approximately 1-10 hours per week, depending on adoption activity. All communication is handled within Microsoft Teams, so regular access is required.
