Hospice - Patient Companionship Volunteer / Troy

The Medical Team Hospice is seeking friendly and compassionate individuals to provide companionship and interaction with our patients. Our volunteers are indispensable key members of the Hospice care team. They share their time, talents and interests by providing comfort and support to our patients and their families during the critical time. The Medical Team Hospice provides comprehensive training and orientation to support you in the challenges of working with Hospice patients. If you can give at least 5 hours A MONTH, please join our team!!

The role of a volunteer would be to spend quality time with our patients engaging them in conversation and/or activities. Just a few examples of activities our volunteers and patients do together : play cards, read books, watch TV/movies, listen to music, go for walks, paint nails, games, and arts/crafts. Our patients enjoy music therapy, art, and pet therapy if available. Also, there are opportunities to help with the facilities' activities/events. Volunteers do not attend to personal care of patients so no skills in this area is needed.
