Call clients to check in on them when their loved one has died on hospice services. Our Bereavement program consists of anywhere from 4 calls and up to weekly calls over 13 months post death depending on the bereaved person's requests and bereavement risk assessment. Lists of calls to be made and background information will be given through a HIPPA compliant website login. The best candidate for this position in particular would also have personal experience with loss of loved ones and be able to relate to personal loss. Understanding that active listening is often key to having someone open up about their grief. The goal is to get the bereaved to talk and share memories and educate them on grief/coping skills. Also, volunteer will submit notes timely documenting conversations using template and notify volunteer/bereavement coordinator immediately if bereaved speaks in a way that would cause concern for self harm.
