Help Elderly Participants Settle Safely and Comfortably at Home
We're looking for compassionate, patient volunteers to support local participants who have recently moved and need a helping hand settling into their homes. This is a simple but meaningful way to make an immediate impact on someone's daily comfort and independence.
Volunteers will provide light, practical support such as:
- Helping unpack boxes
- Organizing essential items (kitchenware, clothing, bathroom items, etc.)
- Arranging belongings in safe, accessible places
- Offering friendly conversation and reassurance
These tasks help participants regain a sense of stability and ease; your presence truly makes a difference.
Flexible!
Even 1–2 hours of assistance is incredibly valuable.
This is an ongoing opportunity, and we regularly match volunteers with participants located closest to your area to minimize travel.
Multiple Elder Place participants across Seattle, Lynnwood, West Seattle, Des Moines, and surrounding areas are awaiting support. You will be matched with someone near your preferred area whenever possible.
Volunteers who are:
- Kind, patient, and respectful
- Comfortable doing light physical activity
- Willing to work in a participant’s home
- Happy to offer social warmth while helping organize

This is a flexible volunteer opportunity. Volunteers will be recruited and onboarded in advance, then matched with participants as needs arise. As this role is not tied to a single site, there is no fixed location for the assignment.
