Development & Fundraising Committee Board Member

Role Overview:

We are seeking a Board member for the Board of Directors at Rooted Wisdom Africa that brings Development & Fundraising experience and is ready to actively lead fundraising and outreach. This working board role includes planning and leading campaigns, tabling events, donor engagement, and identifying new audiences and opportunities to grow support and elevate our impact. This is an unpaid governance and working board role position for a development leader that is passionate about the work Rooted Wisdom Africa does and is ready to actively drive fundraising strategy and revenue growth.

Responsibilities:

• Plan and implement fundraising campaigns and events, including community outreach and tabling.
• Support grant prospecting cultivation strategy, proposal development and copywriting.
• Explore new audiences, partnerships, and opportunities to expand fundraising impact.
• Take ownership of initiatives to meet revenue goals while actively participating in RWA’s Development Committee strategy and execution.
• Collaborate with fellow board members to strengthen development strategy and sustainability.

Ideal Qualifications:

• Experience in fundraising, nonprofit development, or donor relations.
• Comfortable leading public-facing activities and hands-on engagement.
• Strategic thinker with energy, creativity, and passion for growing program support.
• Outgoing and willing to serve as an ambassador of the work.
• Passionate about the work Rooted Wisdom Africa does.

Board Expectations

• Attend regular board meetings (bi-monthly)
• Participate in committee work related to marketing and communications
• Support fundraising and donor engagement efforts.
• Make an annual financial contribution
• Minimum 8 hours commitment per month
