ABOUT THE POSITION: The Marketing & Communications Volunteer will report to the Executive
Director/Founder, Development Director, and when necessary, the Board of Directors. The expected time
commitment is 2-3 hours per week. The Marketing & Communications Volunteer will help our
organization by creating content (blog posts, newsletters, press releases, flyers, graphics, web updates),
assisting with event promotion, and helping to build community awareness.
KEY RESPONSBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Learning and utilizing all existing brand guidelines
- Develop an easy to digest brand guideline document that can be used by all volunteers and stakeholders
- Collaborate with the Social Media Volunteer when applicable to write captions and maintain brand consistency
- Maintain a folder of stock images, past event images, and graphics that can be used by volunteers and stakeholders
- Write and edit copy for quarterly newsletters, monthly blogs, flyers, press releases, and website updates
- Ensure the website is consistent and up-to-date by suggesting content and edits and ensuring brand consistency
- Help create promotional materials for use at community events and fundraisers
- Help market fundraising events and campaigns in collaboration with the Fundraiser Coordinator Volunteer and Social Media Volunteer
- Assist with pitching stories, building media lists, and handling inquiries
- Contribute to marketing plans, track performance, and suggest new ideas
- Maintain excellent financial records for our treasurer/tax preparer
