About Carolina Aviators Network (CAN)
CAN is a community-driven 501(c)(3) nonprofit that connects pilots and aviation enthusiasts
across the Carolinas. Our brand centers on connection, enhancing general aviation, and servant
leadership. From coordinating disaster relief to mentoring underserved youth through our
educational programs, we leverage the power of flight to make a tangible impact.
Key Responsibilities
• 75% Relationship Cultivation & Closing: Personally steward and secure high 5-digit
corporate funding. You’ll be responsible for raising $50K toward a $100K+ impact goal.
• 20% Strategic Development: Collaborate with the Finance Director to build an annual
plan, analyze funding trends, and articulate the "case for support" to major donors.
• 5% On-the-Ground Support: Represent CAN at in-person events and community
gatherings (some travel and after-hours required).
What You’ll Do
• Navigate New Markets: Identify and secure multi-market and state-level funding to
expand CAN’s footprint.
• Pitch the Mission: Present CAN’s work as a premier recruitment and retention tool for
corporate partners through skilled volunteering.
• Program Growth: Secure funding for existing and expanding programs, including
education/mentorship, Community Impact Projects, and seasonal drives.
• Collaborate: Work with Marketing for branding alignment and Community Impact teams
to ensure we meet grant requirements and funder goals (including BIPOC-led SMB
cohorts).
Note: You do not need to be an aviation expert to succeed here. You do need to be a
relationship-centered "closer" with the integrity to match.
Required Experience:
• Proven Success: A track record in fundraising, sales, or business development.
• Tenacity: 3+ years in corporate sponsorship or sales; 2+ years in grant development and
reporting.
• C-Suite Comfort: Ability to lead one-on-one meetings with Fortune 100 executives and
community leaders.
• Tech Savvy: Comfortable with Salesforce (or similar CRMs) and Microsoft 365.
• Preferred Assets:
• Existing C-Suite and community connections in the North and South Carolina markets.
• Experience in a nonprofit with $1M+ in annual revenue.
• Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field (Business, Marketing, Philanthropy, etc.).
Our "Crew" Culture
We believe in healthy teamwork and clear communication. Our team operates on:
• Direct Feedback: We "talk straight" and address issues promptly.
• Radical Accountability: We manage our own "flight paths" (calendars) and respect each
other's time.
• Purposeful Action: Every meeting ends with clarity on decisions, owners, and deadlines.
