POSITION SUMMARY
The Grants & Partnership Coordinator will build and manage Beyond the Ballot’s grant-writing function as a supplemental, capacity-building revenue stream that aligns with Beyond the Ballot’s values and legal context as an advocacy organization. This role identifies and vets aligned grant opportunities, maintains a structured pipeline and calendar, and produces high-quality proposals, budgets (in coordination with leadership), and reporting deliverables. The Coordinator will develop a reusable grants content library, track submissions and requirements, and support internal review processes so grant funding strengthens infrastructure without creating dependency or misalignment with the organization’s grassroots mission.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Journalism, Public Policy, Nonprofit Management, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
WORK EXPERIENCE:
- 2+ years of grant writing, institutional fundraising, proposal writing, or other writing-intensive fundraising experience.
• Proven ability to manage multiple deadlines and coordinate inputs across stakeholders.
• Experience researching funders and aligning proposals to program strategy, outcomes, and budgets.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Research, vet, and maintain a pipeline of aligned progressive funds, donor collaboratives, and advocacy-focused foundations appropriate for Beyond the Ballot’s work.
• Manage a grants calendar and tracking system for deadlines, submission status, reporting requirements, and renewal opportunities.
• Draft and submit Letter of Inquiry or Intent (LOIs), proposals, narratives, budgets (with leadership), and required attachments.
• Maintain a grants “content library” (organizational boilerplate, program descriptions, leadership bios, outcomes/metrics, budget narratives).
• Coordinate with internal stakeholders to collect program goals, impact metrics, and strategic framing for proposals.
• Support a compliance- and values-aligned process for grant acceptance, including preparing materials for leadership review and any required finance/treasurer review.
• Produce timely grant reports and funder updates; maintain organized documentation for year-end and audits.

Understand how to manage stress.
Remote Work Requirements: Regular access to a stable internet connection is required.
Additional Work Conditions & Physical Abilities: Ability to be flexible and adapt as needed between various in-person working environments. May require travel to multiple states.
