    Descrição

Volunteer Non-Executive Director (Board Member) - Rethink Australia Foundation

Help young Australians rethink waste and lead practical environmental change.

Rethink Australia Foundation is a youth-led nonprofit empowering students and schools to create measurable environmental impact through education, technology, and community engagement.

Our initiatives combine AI-powered waste-sorting technology, interschool sustainability challenges, student leadership networks, environmental events, and green career pathways. As we continue to grow, we are seeking experienced professionals to join our Board as voluntary Non-Executive Directors.

We welcome applicants with experience in one or more of the following areas:

    • Corporate partnerships, sponsorship, and fundraising
    • Finance, accounting, audit, investment, or risk management
    • Government, council, and stakeholder relations
    • Education, youth engagement, or child safeguarding
    • Environmental sustainability and circular economy initiatives
    • Technology, artificial intelligence, or digital products
    • Marketing, communications, and public relations
    • Strategy, organisational growth, or social enterprise development

    Responsibilities include:

    • Providing independent judgment and strategic guidance
    • Supporting responsible organisational growth and strong governance
    • Reviewing strategy, risk, performance, and major initiatives
    • Strengthening relationships with schools, businesses, government, and community partners
    • Providing introductions, mentoring, and specialist expertise where appropriate
    • Acting in the best interests of the organisation and fulfilling director responsibilities
    • Supporting a safe, respectful, and youth-led operating environment

We are seeking experienced professionals who believe young people should have meaningful opportunities to lead environmental change. Previous board experience is valued but not essential. Applications from experienced first-time directors with relevant executive, professional, community, academic, or technical expertise are encouraged.

Time commitment is approximately four board meetings per year, primarily online, plus preparation and occasional strategic advice or event participation. Estimated commitment is 2 to 4 hours per quarter.

This is an unpaid volunteer board position.

By joining the Board, you will help shape a growing environmental organisation that combines sustainability, education, behavioral change, and innovative technology to create measurable impact for students, schools, and communities.
