The role of a volunteer at Maimonides Children’s Hospital is to support to the clinical staff and assist with the multiple needs of children and families while in the hospital. Volunteers are assigned by the Department of Volunteer Services and while on duty are directly supervised by clinical Child Life staff. Volunteers must be prepared to function independently providing play, recreational, and supportive activities to children on the Pediatric unit. These activities assist in making patients feel safe and comfortable. Volunteers serve in the playroom as well as at the bedside when requested.
