Social Services & Community Engagement Volunteer

Assist Hope & Harmony as a Community Engagement volunteer and directly impact some of the most underserved members of our community!

Why: By volunteering with Hope & Harmony, you'll play a vital role in supporting low-income, disabled, and homebound seniors by helping them access essential services, feel less isolated, and move toward greater stability.

Who: Hope & Harmony Inc. works to provide stable housing, access to essential medical care, and day-to-day support for seniors in crisis. Whether it's helping someone transition from the streets into safe housing, coordinating vital healthcare, or simply being a steady presence in their lives, we are building a network of care that treats every person with dignity.

What to Expect:

Client Support Volunteer

Assist with client intake, wellness check-ins, and follow-up calls to help seniors access the care and resources they need -- gaining hands-on experience supporting vulnerable populations.

Community Outreach Volunteer

Help share information and organize local events to connect seniors with services -- building community ties and communication skills within a nonprofit setting.

Event Volunteer

Support the planning and execution of wellness events and donation drives, learning how nonprofit programs create meaningful impact.

Donations Volunteer

Assist with sorting, organizing, and distributing donations to ensure resources reach those who need them most.

Social Media & Communications Volunteer

Create and share posts to promote events and raise awareness, developing storytelling and engagement skills while supporting the nonprofit's mission.

Administrative Support Volunteer

Help with data entry, filing, and record keeping -- gaining insight into the operational side of nonprofit work.

Research & Evaluation Volunteer

Assist with gathering data and preparing reports to help measure program outcomes and better understand community needs.

What's Required:

Ability to attend in-person activities in Los Angeles County (some remote work available)

Currently enrolled or interested in fields such as Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Public Health, or similar (not required)

Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Dependable, compassionate, and able to maintain confidentiality

Must pass a background check (required for any client interaction)

Bilingual (especially Spanish) is a plus, but not required

Ability to sit, stand, or walk for extended periods and assist with light lifting (e.g., during donation drives or events)

Must follow basic safety protocols during in-person activities (e.g., mask-wearing when appropriate, wellness checks, etc.)

Flexible commitment, typically 5-40 hours per month, based on your availability
