Volunteers are asked to commit to 1 hour once a week between 2:45 PM and 5:15 PM to support Dragon’s Den’s after-school programming. Consistent attendance ensures continuity and helps build strong, trusting relationships with our youth.
- After-School Program Support
- Assist staff with supervising youth during daily programs
- Help set up and break down activities
- Provide positive engagement and model appropriate behavior
- Maintain a safe, welcoming environment for all participants
- Homework Help & Tutoring
- Support students with homework assignments and academic tasks
- Offer 1-on-1 or small group guidance
- Encourage good study habits and confidence-building through learning
- Communicate with staff if a student needs additional academic support
- Mentorship & Activity Facilitation
- Build healthy, supportive relationships with youth
- Lead or assist with structured activities (STEAM, games, arts, literacy, climbing, etc.)
- Encourage teamwork, creativity, and problem-solving
- Model positive social and emotional skills
- Special Events & Community Outreach
- Assist with preparation and staffing for special events
- Help run activity stations, registrations, or family engagement tables
- Represent Dragon’s Den positively within the community
- Support outreach initiatives when available
- Administrative Support
- Assist with program organization, clerical tasks, or preparation of materials
- Help maintain records, file forms, or prepare resource packets
- Support behind-the-scenes operations that keep programs running smoothly
Required Clearances & Certifications (State of PA)
All volunteers must be willing to complete and maintain the following clearances before beginning service, as required by Pennsylvania law and Dragon’s Den policies:
- CPR/AED/First Aid Certification
- Child Abuse Mandated Reporter Training (Online Course)
- Act 114 – FBI Fingerprinting
- Act 34 – Pennsylvania Criminal History Check
- Act 151 – PA Child Abuse History Clearance
