    Job Overview:

    The Volunteer Onboarding & Orientation Coordinator ensures new volunteers have a smooth and informative introduction to VPMMA. This includes managing onboarding paperwork, hosting monthly orientation sessions, and ensuring volunteers feel confident entering their roles.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Receive task notifications from the Pre-Onboarding Coordinator for accepted candidates and send out welcome emails
    • Track onboarding documentation completion (Must be done before orientation)
    • Host bi-monthly orientation sessions to cover VPMMA structure, culture, and policies
    • Maintain onboarding tracking records and attendance logs
    • Respond to onboarding questions and guide volunteers to their next steps
    • Coordinate with the Integration Coordinator for post-orientation volunteer placement
    • Provide regular updates to leadership about onboarding outcomes and feedback
    • Create and maintain up-to-date onboarding procedures in the knowledge base

    Skills and Qualifications:

    • Excellent public speaking and facilitation skills.
    • Strong organizational and administrative abilities.
    • Experience in onboarding, HR, or volunteer management is preferred.
    • Familiarity with remote collaboration tools (Google Drive, Zoom, etc.).
    • Friendly, clear communicator with a passion for service.

    Position Details:

    Type: Volunteer

    Location: Remote

    Directorate: Volunteer Operations (Volunteer Committee)

    Term: Six months to one year commitment to maintain consistency and effectiveness in our programs.

    Time Commitment: Volunteers should aim for 5 to 8 hours per week, with a minimum of 15 hours per month. We understand that some weeks may be less active due to holidays or vacations. Effective communication about your availability helps us remain flexible and ensures smooth operations.

    Reporting Structure:

    • Direct Report: Deputy Director of Volunteer Operations
    • Alternate: Director of Volunteer Operations (Volunteer Committee)
    • Team: Volunteer Integration Coordinator, Deputy Director of Volunteer Operations

    The Veteran Project Manager Mentor Alliance (VPMMA) is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting and advancing the careers of service members, veterans, and military spouses in project management. We aim to build a strong, supportive community through mentorship, networking, and professional development, believing strongly in the transformative power of project management skills for veterans.

    Training and Support:

    Volunteers will receive training on VPMMA's mission, programs, and communication strategies. The Volunteer Coordinator and the Human Resources team will provide ongoing support to ensure you have the resources and guidance needed to excel in this role.
