Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated, detail-oriented volunteer to support research and writing related to official public comments on a Draft Environmental Impact Report (DEIR) in California. This is a short-term, project-based opportunity well suited for a college student or early-career professional interested in environmental policy, public process, or community advocacy.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct research on environmental, recreational, and policy-related issues relevant to the DEIR
- Assist in drafting, editing, and organizing formal public comments for submission to public agencies
- Draft clear, professional emails to large groups of stakeholders or community members
- Help organize and support discussion sessions or community meetings
- Take accurate notes during meetings and assist with summarizing key points and action items
Required Qualifications
- Excellent research skills
- Good writing and editing skills, with attention to clarity and tone for official/public-facing documents
- Ability to manage deadlines
- Organized, reliable, and detail-oriented
Bonus Qualifications
- Interest in environmental issues, land use, or public process
- Interest in or familiarity with water recreation (e.g., boating, fishing, kayaking, waterfront access)
- Experience with community engagement, advocacy, or public meetings
