Role Summary

We are seeking a Board Member with strong financial experience and a solid legal background to provide strategic oversight on the organization’s financial health, governance, and compliance. This role goes beyond reviewing numbers; it requires someone who can interpret financial data, understand legal implications, and guide sound, ethical decision-making.

As part of the Board, you will work closely with leadership to ensure financial transparency, regulatory compliance, and alignment with the organization’s mission and long-term goals. The ideal candidate brings a balanced perspective, combining financial insight with legal awareness to strengthen both accountability and governance.

Legal Responsibilities

• Provide strategic oversight on financial matters, including budgeting, financial planning, and sustainability.
• Review and interpret financial reports, offering insights and recommendations to support decision-making.
• Ensure proper financial controls, accountability, and risk management practices are in place.
• Offer guidance on legal and regulatory considerations related to financial operations and governance.
• Support the development and monitoring of annual budgets and financial forecasts.
• Contribute to discussions around contracts, policies, and organizational compliance.
• Participate in board meetings and support key organizational decisions.
• Act as a trusted advisor to leadership on both financial and governance matters

Qualifications

• Background in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Law, or a related field
• Demonstrated experience in financial management, oversight, or advisory roles
• Legal background with an understanding of governance, compliance, and regulatory frameworks
• Strong understanding of financial reporting, budgeting, and risk management
• Experience serving on a board or in a governance role is an advantage.
• Ability to interpret financial data and assess associated legal implications
• High level of integrity, accountability, and sound judgment
• Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders
