Role Summary

We are seeking a Board Member with strong financial experience to provide strategic oversight and guidance on the organization’s financial health and sustainability. This role is best suited for someone who understands financial systems, governance, and long-term planning, and can contribute beyond reviewing numbers by asking the right questions and guiding sound decision-making.

As part of the Board, you will work closely with leadership to ensure financial transparency, accountability, and alignment with the organization’s mission and goals.

Legal Responsibilities

• Provide strategic oversight on financial matters, including budgeting, financial planning, and sustainability.
• Review and interpret financial reports, offering insights and recommendations to support decision-making.
• Ensure proper financial controls, accountability, and risk management practices are in place.
• Support the development and monitoring of annual budgets and financial forecasts.
• Offer guidance on funding strategies, including grants, partnerships, and revenue opportunities.
• Participate in board meetings and contribute to key organizational decisions.
• Support financial compliance, audit processes, and overall governance standards.
• Act as a trusted advisor to leadership on financial matters

Qualifications

• Background in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field
• Proven experience in financial management, financial oversight, or advisory roles
• Strong understanding of financial reporting, budgeting, and risk management
• Experience serving on a board or in a governance role is an advantage.
• Ability to interpret financial data and translate it into strategic insights
• High level of integrity, accountability, and sound judgment
• Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders
