Did you know that our community contains people we hardly see? 28 percent of seniors are living alone, 40 percent of seniors have a disability, and 70 percent will at some point need long term services/support for daily living. Seniors who don't have family or friends to help them are often forced into nursing homes which can negatively impact their emotional wellbeing.
We are looking to build a community of people who will offer assistance to these underserved and often overlooked individuals. Just a couple of hours a month or more of helping with grocery shopping, cleaning, moving, yard care, and other living and home maintenance tasks could change the course of someone's life. If you believe caring for our elders is one thing community is for, please contact us.
Apply to volunteer with us, where you will be connected with a person who needs assistance maintaining their home due to mental and/or physical disability. Our program offers you the chance to use YOUR unique skills to uplift someone in need! We are seeking compassionate people to connect with our underserved neighbors and are looking for a wide range of skills, from conversationalists to grocery shoppers to folks who are handy! We would love to hear from YOU!
Volunteer Services, a program of Catholic Community Services, assists low-income older adults and adults living with disabilities. Volunteers can provide assistance with light housecleaning, transportation, grocery shopping, home repair, and yard care. With a little help from volunteers, clients can continue to live independently in their homes.
Due to the vulnerable population we serve, volunteers must complete an application form, pass a Washington State Patrol check and attend an orientation.
