Not Defined By FND is a nonprofit organization dedicated to ending stigma, raising awareness, supporting the FND community, and advocating for improved research, treatment, and resources for Functional Neurological Disorder (FND). We're a growing organization working to create greater understanding, connection, and hope for people affected by FND.

About the Opportunity

We're looking for volunteers who want to contribute to our mission in ways that fit their skills, interests, experience, and availability.

We don't use a traditional department or fixed-position model for our volunteers. Instead, we organize opportunities around different areas of our work and invite volunteers to help with the tasks and projects that interest them.

You might contribute a few hours a month, help with a specific project, take on recurring tasks, or explore different opportunities over time.

You don't have to know exactly where you fit before applying.

Ways You Can Help

Volunteer opportunities may include:

🤝 Community Programs & Support

Help with support groups, community activities, book club, games, and events.

📣 Communications & Content

Help with social media, newsletters, writing, graphics, educational campaigns, and outreach.

💬 Community Inquiries & Support

Help with community messages, inquiries, and connecting people with appropriate resources.

💰 Finance & Development

Assist with fundraising, grant research, partnerships, donations, and nonprofit development projects.

📚 Resources & Research

Help research FND, organize information, develop educational resources, and support research-related projects.

🌱 Volunteer Support

Help with volunteer recruitment, communication, resources, and recognition.

💻 Website & Digital Systems

Assist with website updates, digital organization, ClickUp, Google Drive, workflows, and systems.

🌟 Special Projects & Initiatives

Help with awareness campaigns, events, competitions, and other special projects.

Who We're Looking For

We're interested in people who are:

• Interested in supporting the FND community
• Able to work independently when provided with instructions
• Interested in contributing their skills or learning new ones

People with lived experience of FND, caregivers, healthcare professionals, researchers, students, advocates, creatives, and community members are all welcome.

You do not need to be an FND expert to volunteer with us.

Time Commitment

Flexible.

Opportunities may range from occasional tasks and short-term projects to ongoing volunteer work. We work with volunteers to find opportunities that fit their availability rather than expecting everyone to maintain the same schedule.
