    Descrição

Mommy’s Heart, Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, is seeking a dedicated event planner coordinator to join our United Nations conference planning committee for an international conference on Family Court, child safety, and domestic abuse. This high‑impact conference will take place in July in Manhattan and will feature key leaders, legislators, legal and mental health professionals, and other notable voices in the field of family law and child protection.

    About Mommy’s Heart

    • Provides free legal, mental health, advocacy, and career support to survivors of domestic abuse and coercive control navigating Family Court.
    • Focuses on protecting children, elevating survivor voices, and advancing systemic reform through education, policy, and strategic partnerships.

    Role Overview

The Event Planner Coordinator will help organize and execute a United Nations–related international conference in Manhattan in July, highlighting Family Court abuses, best practices, and reforms. This role is ideal for a detail‑oriented, mission‑driven student or professional based in Manhattan who seeks hands‑on experience with a high‑profile, advocacy‑driven conference.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Support the planning and logistics for the Manhattan‑based July conference, including timelines, run‑of‑show, and day‑of coordination.
    • Assist with speaker and VIP management, including outreach, confirmations, scheduling, and communications for legislators, experts, and survivor leaders.
    • Coordinate with partner organizations, sponsors, and co‑hosts on conference programming, panels, and breakout sessions.
    • Help manage invitations, RSVPs, and guest communications for an international audience.
    • Contribute to the development of conference materials (programs, briefing documents, talking points, signage, and digital assets).
    • Collaborate with the media and communications team on promotion, social media campaigns, and post‑conference follow up.
    • Provide administrative support to the UN planning committee, including meeting notes, task tracking, and deadline management.

    Desired Qualifications

    • Must be currently located in Manhattan and available from February through July for planning and coordination, including in‑person meetings and on‑site conference support.
    • Passion for child protection, domestic abuse advocacy, human rights, and systemic reform in Family Court.
    • Prior experience in event or conference planning, logistics, project management, or nonprofit work preferred but not required.
    • Background or strong interest in public policy, such as current or prior studies in public policy, political science, law, international affairs, or a related field, is especially valued.
    • Strong organizational and time‑management skills; able to juggle multiple moving pieces and deadlines.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a professional, diplomatic tone for high‑level stakeholders.
    • Comfort working with spreadsheets, documents, and virtual collaboration platforms (e.g., Zoom, Google Workspace, or similar tools).
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a trauma‑informed, survivor‑centered environment.

    Time Commitment and Benefits

    • February–July planning period with regular coordination meetings (mostly remote) and mandatory in‑person availability in Manhattan for the conference in July.
    • Unpaid volunteer/internship role with opportunities for academic credit, depending on school requirements.
    • Direct experience planning a high‑profile international conference with legislators, policymakers, and sector leaders.
    • Mentorship and networking opportunities within legal, mental health, advocacy, public policy, and international policy communities.
