Are you passionate about wildlife and want to help when wildlife are in urgent need?
Join the Wildlife Jewels® Rescue Crew, a trained volunteer team that helps locate to support transport of injured coastal birds to authorized wildlife rehabilitation centers.
Rescue Crew volunteers provide critical support when every moment matters—helping ensure distressed birds receive timely care. Volunteers may assist with on-site, as well as remote support such as coordination and outreach.
Helpful (But Not Required) Skills & Interests
- Interest or experience in veterinary or wildlife care
- Familiarity with animal handling or wildlife rehabilitation (any level)
- Environmental science, marine biology, or related fields
- Calm, compassionate decision-making in urgent situations
- Community outreach or public communication
- Data organization, note-taking, or logistics coordination
- Photography / documentation
- Reliable driving/transportation for those interested in transport roles
You do not need all of these—care for wildlife and willingness to learn are most important.
Time Commitment
- Minimum commitment: 6 months
- Aim for ~2 hours per week, which may include:
- On-site field support (as needed and as you’re available), and/or
- Remote support for coordination, outreach, case tracking, or rescue program development
