Supporting Students Who Left High School

No Barriers Education is a nonprofit dedicated to helping students overcome barriers to education and pursue their goals. We provide free resources, guidance, mentorship, and support to help students navigate their educational and career pathways, regardless of their circumstances or background.

We are looking for a passionate volunteer to lead our Students who Dropped out of High School section as part of a larger initiative focused on providing tailored resources and support to students facing different barriers to education.

In this role, you will help build and maintain a section of our website for individuals who left high school before graduating and are looking to continue their education, earn a credential, or pursue new opportunities. Responsibilities may include:

• Researching and identifying GED and HiSET programs, adult education opportunities, alternative high school programs, career training, community college pathways, scholarships, workforce programs, and other relevant resources
• Maintaining an organized and up-to-date list of opportunities and resources
• Helping design, update, and maintain the High School Re-Engagement section of our website
• Identifying gaps in available resources and suggesting new ways No Barriers Education can support students who did not complete high school
• Researching pathways for students who want to return to high school, earn an equivalency credential, attend college, enter a career training program, or pursue other educational and career goals
• Taking ownership of the direction of the section and developing new ideas, resources, or initiatives based on your interests and expertise
• Potentially creating or leading programs, workshops, mentorship opportunities, or other initiatives as the organization grows
• Collaborating with other volunteers and contributing to the broader No Barriers Education initiative

We are especially looking for someone who is passionate about expanding educational opportunities for people who did not complete traditional high school. Personal experience leaving high school before graduation or experience working with adult learners, alternative education programs, GED students, or re-engagement programs is a plus, but is not required.

We value volunteers who are compassionate, proactive, reliable, and excited to take ownership of a project. This is an opportunity to help ensure that leaving high school does not mean a student has to give up on their educational or career goals.

This position is very part-time and flexible. We expect the role to take only a few hours per week, depending on your availability and how much you would like to contribute. Our team meets biweekly for approximately 30 minutes, with additional collaboration happening asynchronously.

This role is part of a larger initiative in which volunteers will lead dedicated sections supporting students in foster care, student parents, first-generation and low-income students, students experiencing homelessness, students with disabilities, immigrant and newcomer students, and working students.

This is an opportunity to have meaningful ownership over a growing initiative and help create clearer pathways for students who want to continue their education after leaving high school.
