Position Summary
The Chief of Business Development & Partnerships is a senior executive volunteer role responsible for shaping and leading Empowered Futures’ outreach, engagement, and partnership strategy. This role oversees all outreach-related functions, guides partnership development, and ensures alignment between external relationships and organizational priorities. The Chief provides strategic leadership to the Director of Outreach & Partnerships and collaborates closely with the CEO to advance mission-driven initiatives.
This role reports directly to the CEO and serves as the executive liaison for outreach and partnership strategy.
Key Responsibilities
Executive Outreach Leadership
- Provide strategic leadership for all business development and partnership initiatives across the organization.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive outreach strategy that strengthens Empowered Futures’ visibility, credibility, and community impact.
- Oversee the Director of Business Development & Partnerships, ensuring alignment with departmental goals and organizational priorities.
- Ensure outreach strategy reflects organizational values, mission, and long-term vision.
Partnership Strategy & High-Level Relationship Management
- Lead the cultivation and stewardship of high-value partnerships with community organizations, institutions, corporate partners, and sector leaders.
- Negotiate and oversee strategic partnership agreements, MOUs, and collaboration frameworks.
- Support cross-sector initiatives that expand program reach, volunteer engagement, and organizational influence.
- Serve as the executive point of contact for major partners and strategic alliances.
Cross-Functional Executive Collaboration
- Work closely with the CEO, Chief Officers, and senior leadership to integrate outreach and partnership strategy into organizational planning.
- Ensure outreach initiatives support program development, communications strategy, and fundraising efforts.
- Provide executive-level insights on emerging opportunities, risks, and sector trends.
- Collaborate with the CEO on initiatives requiring organizational representation at the governance level.
External Representation & Outreach
- Represent Empowered Futures at high-level events, conferences, and strategic meetings.
- Deliver keynote presentations, participate in panels, and engage with senior stakeholders to elevate the organization’s profile.
- Communicate organizational impact, mission, and partnership value propositions with clarity and authority.
Reporting & Evaluation
- Oversee departmental reporting, ensuring outreach and partnership metrics inform organizational strategy.
- Provide regular updates to the CEO and contribute to executive planning and decision-making.
- Ensure outreach and partnership activities comply with nonprofit regulations, ethical standards, and organizational policies.
- Support the CEO in preparing outreach-related updates for the Chairwoman and Board committees.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, nonprofit management, business, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5–8 years of experience in business development, partnerships, community engagement, external relations, or nonprofit leadership.
- Demonstrated success building and managing strategic relationships.
- Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively across teams and represent the organization with professionalism.
Preferred
- Experience in nonprofit outreach, community development, or partnership management.
- Familiarity with stakeholder engagement, volunteer mobilization, or cross‑sector collaboration.
- Knowledge of nonprofit compliance and partnership reporting requirements.
