About our Program!
Thank you for your interest in the Explosive Detection K9 Program for the St. Louis area under the Department of Homeland Security. The K9 teams working at the St. Louis International Airport specialize in detecting explosives on people, and as such, require constant training to stay ahead of the threats we face. Because of this, we are always seeking volunteers such as yourself to assist with our training.
What will you do as a volunteer?
Volunteering would consist of approximately 2-3 hours of your time. As a volunteer, you will be used as a covert role player. You will be given a training item, and our dogs will try to find you throughout the airport. It's essentially the ultimate game of hide and seek! We utilize our volunteers in several areas of the airport (Gates, security checkpoints, lobbies, concourses, etc.) Please be advised that our policy does not allow us to use volunteers as certified trainers. Volunteers can participate once every 45 days. This allows our volunteers to remain covert.
At the end of our training, you will be given a certificate of appreciation for your support in our program!
What are the requirements to become a volunteer?
Great news! Almost anyone can volunteer. To be eligible to volunteer, you must.
