Music for Hospice Patients
The benefits of music for hospice patients and their family can; elevate mood, reduce stress, depression, and pain. If you would like to visit hospice patients and bring happiness to help them along their journey this would be the opportunity you’re looking for. Volunteers who visit with patients must be 18 years or older.
To become a hospice volunteer at Sequoia Hospice, no experience is required, all training and support will be provided. The precious gift of your time, caring nature, and genuine want to be present is priceless.
Volunteering can be as simple as sitting by the bedside, listening with compassion, playing music, reading a book, helping create a scrapbook, and as needed, offering support, providing relief for the family members and caregivers. Volunteers do not provide clinical or personal care, but can provide social visits to a patient, or give the caregiver a little break, or time to rest. Volunteers can be a caring companion and compassionate listener to both patients and families. Volunteers can also assist with "light" routine tasks.This position is perfect for those who have a passion for serving their community or need volunteer hours. All training will be provided.
* Training provided. You must be at least 16 years of age to perform Administrative Support Services and at least 18 years of age to visit patients. Mileage reimbursement provided.
