About the initiative
Mabuhay Gardens is a storied cultural venue with a legendary history. Via CrowdDoing, we are regenerating the Mab as a hybrid cultural ecosystem. We are seeking a grant writer to identify and apply to major arts and culture foundations including the James Irvine Foundation, Kresge Foundation, Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, and the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA).
What you'll do
- Research eligibility and priorities for Irvine, Kresge, Mellon, NEA, and similar foundations.
- Draft compelling grant narratives that communicate the Mab's mission and programming vision.
- Coordinate with the producing team to gather documentation and supporting materials.
- Track application deadlines and manage submission timelines.
- Identify additional foundation funders aligned with cultural preservation and regeneration.
Who this role is for
Somebody with real, demonstrable skill in at least two of the following:
- Experience writing arts and culture grant applications to major foundations
- Strong research and writing skills
- Familiarity with arts organization fundraising and development
- Knowledge of NEA, Irvine, Kresge, or Mellon grant programs
Time commitment & structure
- Flexible, part-time, mostly asynchronous
- Ongoing commitment, renewable
- Onboarding via CrowdDoing's standard volunteer orientation
