About NALTCV

The National Association of Long-Term Care Volunteers (NALTCV) is a national nonprofit working to strengthen meaningful connection between trained companion volunteers and people living in long-term care communities.

Our work includes volunteer education and training, resources for long-term care communities, advocacy for the value of volunteers, professional education, and research examining the impact volunteers can have on quality of life and social connection.

NALTCV is entering an important period of growth. We are developing pilot programs, expanding national partnerships, increasing our visibility, and building the organizational capacity needed to take our mission to a much larger scale.

The Opportunity

NALTCV is seeking a dynamic board member with experience in fundraising, development, philanthropy, business development, corporate partnerships, or major-donor cultivation.

We are looking for someone who enjoys building relationships and opening doors — someone who can help NALTCV move beyond relying primarily on grants and develop a broader, more sustainable base of support.

This is a working board position. The successful candidate will help us think strategically about fundraising while also being willing to make introductions, cultivate relationships, and help create opportunities for financial support.

What You Might Help Us Do

The Board Member for Fundraising, Development & Strategic Partnerships will work with NALTCV leadership and the Board of Directors to:

• Identify and cultivate prospective individual donors, foundations, corporations, sponsors, and strategic partners.
• Introduce NALTCV to people and organizations within your professional network.
• Help develop a diversified fundraising and development strategy.
• Explore corporate sponsorships, major gifts, partnerships, and other sources of unrestricted support.
• Help strengthen NALTCV's case for support and donor messaging.
• Advise leadership on donor cultivation, stewardship, and relationship-building.
• Participate actively in board discussions about organizational growth and financial sustainability.
• Serve as an ambassador for NALTCV and its mission.

Who We Are Looking For

We would particularly like to meet someone who has:

• Experience in nonprofit development, fundraising, philanthropy, corporate relations, business development, or major-gift cultivation.
• A strong professional network and a willingness to make introductions.
• Comfort talking with people about supporting a nonprofit mission.
• An entrepreneurial mindset and enthusiasm for helping a relatively young national nonprofit grow.
• The ability to think strategically while also helping turn ideas into action.
• A genuine interest in aging, long-term care, volunteerism, social connection, or reducing loneliness and isolation.

Experience in healthcare, aging services, long-term care, philanthropy, or the volunteer sector is welcome but not required. In fact, we are especially interested in candidates who can bring new networks and perspectives to NALTCV.

We are not looking simply for someone with the word “fundraising” on a résumé.

We are looking for a connector — someone who naturally sees relationships and possibilities, enjoys bringing people together, and is excited about helping others discover a mission worth supporting.

NALTCV believes that meaningful relationships can change lives. We are looking for a board member who can help us build the relationships that will allow this work to grow.

About Board Service

NALTCV's Board of Directors meets virtually, allowing members to participate from anywhere in the United States. Board members are expected to participate actively in meetings, contribute their professional expertise, and assist with organizational priorities between meetings when appropriate.

This is an unpaid volunteer leadership position.
