Description:
St. Francis Healthcare System of Hawaii is one of the largest providers of care options for seniors and caregivers in the Islands. Our hospice program is the largest department within the St. Francis Healthcare System and has a need for volunteers who are willing to provide companionship or respite for patients. Volunteers visit hospice patients at our inpatient unit, in nursing facilities and/or patient homes. Volunteer greeters also assist visitors to our inpatient unit. Some volunteers choose to help with one activity, some choose a couple of activities and some choose to help with them all. We work with your availability. We are also looking for volunteers willing to share talents such as perform music, healing touch, certified pet therapy, or licensed massage therapy or haircuts.
This is a great opportunity for students looking for healthcare experience and for seniors and retirees who want to give back to their community.
Training is convenient to your schedule too. In addition to online training that you can complete at home, we host a short orientation where we discuss the legacy of St. Francis, review our policies and procedures, and the protocol for visiting patients. To qualify, all volunteers are required to provide TB clearance and pass a background and personal reference check.
