Dancing Stars – Dance Class Greeter & Door Monitor

Dates: September 2026 – December 19, 2026

Schedule: Various weekday evenings and Saturday mornings

Locations: Grace N. Rogers Elementary School & First United Methodist Church

Volunteers Needed: 1–2 per rehearsal

Age: 18+ preferred; responsible high school students may also express interest

About the Opportunity

Dancing Stars, a dance program operating under Rise, is looking for friendly and dependable volunteers to assist as Dance Class Greeters & Door Monitors during rehearsals throughout the fall season.

Because the program has many rehearsal dates and times, this is being offered as a general-interest volunteer opportunity. Volunteers do not need to commit to the entire season. Once interested, volunteers can connect directly with the Dancing Stars Director to coordinate the dates that work best with their availability.

What Will Volunteers Do?

Volunteers will help provide a welcoming and secure entrance for dancers arriving for class.

Responsibilities include:

• Greeting dancers as they arrive
• Opening the secured entrance for dancers during the first 20 minutes after each class begins
• Helping ensure that only dancers and authorized individuals enter the building
• Politely letting parents and other visitors know that parents are not permitted inside during classes unless previously authorized by Dancing Stars staff
• If two volunteers are present, one volunteer may help escort a dancer from the entrance to the auditorium for additional security
• Remaining near the entrance as needed between class arrival periods

After the first 20 minutes of a class, volunteers may be able to sit toward the back of the auditorium and watch the class until it is time to assist with arrivals for the next class.

Volunteers are not responsible for supervising, teaching, or providing childcare for the dancers. Dancing Stars staff will be responsible for the students and the dance program.

Typical Rehearsal Schedule

Rehearsals take place on various:

Mondays: 7:00–9:00 PM

Tuesdays: 7:00–9:00 PM

Wednesdays: 5:00–8:00 PM

Thursdays: 5:30–7:00 PM

Fridays: 5:00–8:00 PM

Saturdays: Morning rehearsals

Volunteers may select dates based on their availability. You do not need to be available for every rehearsal.
