Are you handyperson or DIYer and eager to make a difference? Join our team at ERAF Horse Rescue as a volunteer handyperson! We’re looking for individuals who enjoy working with their hands to help maintain and improve our facilities, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for our rescued horses and the people who care for them.
Responsibilities:
- Perform routine repairs and maintenance on fences, barns, stalls, and other structures.
- Assist with building and assembling new enclosures, storage spaces, or shelters.
- Help maintain the functionality of equipment like gates, water systems, farm equipment and tools.
- Perform basic landscaping tasks such as clearing debris, fixing pathways, or maintaining pastures.
- Collaborate with staff to identify and prioritize maintenance needs.
Skills and Qualifications:
- General handyperson or DIY experience (e.g., carpentry, plumbing, basic mechanics, or repairs).
- Basic gardening/landscaping skills.
- Ability to safely use tools and equipment.
- Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions.
- A positive attitude, dependability, and a love for animals.
- Ability to lift and carry moderate weights (e.g., materials or tools).
Time Commitment:
Flexible scheduling is available! We welcome volunteers who can commit to a regular weekly shift of three hours/week or more and/or help as needed for special projects. Weekend warriors welcome!
