Volunteer Virtual Tutor - 3rd-6th grade Math - Help Foster Youth Earn GED

Age-Out Angels has immediate openings for volunteers for one-to-one virtual tutoring to youth in foster care who live with challenges that have kept them from getting their high school diploma. As current and former youth in foster care, many moved around too often to have a continuous academic opportunity. Many have multiple children by their late teens, many have jobs and have to try to get an education while supporting a household.

Math suffers the most when youth are moved, so many of our youth enter the program with 3rd and 4th grade math skills. As a tutor, you don't need to be a mathmetician to get them over the hump of basic skills. If you can help with the 4 basic operations and fractions, you can be valuable.

Getting their High School Equivalency will change their lives. It will open doors to vocational careers where they can earn enough money to be self-sufficient without assistance from the government. That's where you come in.

First, we will train you to be trauma informed. Many of these youth have suffered tremendously and it is vital that you understand some of the cognitive challenges they may have as a result of that trauma.

Then, we will give you the materials you need to get them to the magic 6th grade level. That's all we ask. Don't hesitate. If you have a basic knowledge of foundational math, we need you.

Since this is 100% online, you can live anywhere within the United States. You cannot live outside the US.
