The Fundraising Lead plays a key role in supporting the Solano Symphony Orchestra’s mission to bring live symphonic music to our community. This position oversees all fundraising activities—from developing annual fundraising plans and coordinating events to identifying grants and engaging donors. As a member of the Board of Directors, the Fundraising Lead collaborates with fellow board and committee members to build lasting community partnerships, ensure ethical fundraising practices, and secure vital resources that sustain the orchestra’s performances and educational programs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
The following duties are typical of those performed or delegated by the individual in this position; however, this individual may perform other related duties, and not all duties listed will be performed by each individual in this position.
- Attend all General Board of Directors meetings
- Prepare an update for the Board on the activities of the Fundraising Committee
- Participate in meetings as a voting member
- Oversee all fundraising activities
- Establish a fundraising plan and take the lead on outreach efforts, such as special fundraising campaigns or events.
- Involve and support all board and committee members in the effort to raise money.
- Ensure ethical practices are in place, that donors are acknowledged appropriately, and that all fundraising efforts are cost-effective.
- Identify grant opportunities and oversee proposal writing process to successfully secure grant funding.
- Participate in the process that produces the annual budget
- Provide input regarding past and potential fundraising efforts
- Develop the annual fundraising plan based on the proposed concert season funding requirements
QUALIFICATIONS
- Demonstrates strong dynamic leadership
- Has good verbal and written communication skills
- Has basic computer skills in Word and Excel
TALENT - LEADERSHIP SKILLS
- Ability to coordinate tasks among committee members and other Board members as required
- Ability to promote the virtues of becoming a member of the Board or committee
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Ability to report-out at General Board Meetings
- Ability to meet with committee members
- Must be able to sit, stand for up to one hour, bend and lift up to 20 lbs.
- Must be able to read, speak and write English fluently
PREREQUISITE BACKGROUND
- Experience as a board member, orchestra member or arts patron preferred
- Willingness to commit to the Mission Statement and Bylaws Solano Community
Symphony Association (SCSA) dba Solano Symphony Orchestra
- Fundraising experience and community network desirable
