    Adult Mentor Experience

Adult educators will strengthen their skills in youth leadership development and community engagement through active participation in the program. They will support youth throughout the full program cycle, from pre-program preparation to the implementation of community-based projects. Below is an overview of educator roles and responsibilities during each phase.

    Pre-Program Preparation Phase

    • Support in-country logistical coordination to ensure students complete required paperwork and travel preparations.
    • This includes participating in pre-departure orientations and assisting, as needed, with travel logistics and group departure coordination.
    • The U.S.-based educator will focus on preparing U.S. students for the international exchange experience with international peers and building a cohesive U.S. cohort.

    In-Person Exchange Phase

    • During the U.S. exchange, educators will engage in and observe the program’s instructional and experiential learning components.
    • They will participate in activities alongside youth, support participant engagement and well-being, and contribute to reflection and learning discussions.
    • Through this hands-on involvement, educators will gain practical strategies and insights applicable to their own educational and professional settings.

    Community Project Phase

    • Educators will support students as they plan and carry out community-based projects inspired by their U.S. experience.
    • They will take part in monthly virtual check-ins and coaching sessions with Legacy International, assist with documenting project outcomes, and share professional learning and best practices with fellow educators.
