Area Coordinator
Schedule & time commitment: 15-25 hours a week

Position Summary: The Area Coordinator is a key volunteer role at Carolina Boxer Rescue (CBR), serving as the primary point of contact for both approved adopters and foster homes within an assigned geographic region. This role ensures the successful placement, care, and support of rescued boxers by maintaining strong, ongoing communication with fosters and adopters, tracking records, and following CBR’s established procedures for matching dogs with homes.
The ideal candidate is organized, compassionate, responsive, and experienced in dog rescue. Area Coordinators help oversee every step of a boxer’s journey—from foster placement to adoption—while also supporting volunteers and maintaining critical documentation in Salesforce.
Core Responsibilities:
Adopter Support
- Maintain accurate records of approved adopters in your assigned area.
- Communicate regularly with adopters about their preferences, needs, and available dogs.
- Match approved adopters with available dogs, following CBR’s policies and procedures.
- Support adopters with decompression guidance and integration tips for welcoming a new dog.
- Assist with coordinating meet-and-greets and requesting adoption contracts.
Foster Support
- Maintain an up-to-date list of foster homes in your region, including availability and household dynamics.
- Communicate frequently with foster families about their needs and foster dog placements.
- Work with foster mentor toGuide fosters through preparing for a new dog’s arrival, including decompression and safe introductions with resident pets.
- Monitor foster dog behavior and needs, staying in regular contact with the foster home.
- Provide basic training resources and support.
- Help fosters write dog bios and provide updates for social media and the website.
- Assist fosters with communication to the vet team for medical needs or concerns.
- Help coordinate meet-and-greets between fosters and approved adopters.
Administrative & Logistics
- Utilize Salesforce to document and maintain records for fosters, adopters, and dogs.
- Use CBR’s shipping software to mail out tags, blankets, and supplies to fosters.
- Ensure that all communications and matches are aligned with CBR’s mission and guidelines.
Qualifications:
- Familiarity with or willingness to learn CBR’s processes, procedures, and adoption policies.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Comfort using tools like Salesforce, Google Forms, email, and shipping software.
- Ability to handle emotionally sensitive situations with compassion and objectivity.
- Experience with or knowledge of dog rescue, fostering, and basic dog behavior is a plus.
- Commitment to maintaining timely communication and follow-up.
