Memoir writing is more than a pastime—it gives patients a sense of purpose, closure, and connection with their loved ones. By sharing their life stories, patients can reflect on their experiences, pass along wisdom, and create a personal history that families will treasure for years.
Volunteers are provided with a question guide to help build rapport and spark meaningful conversation across a variety of life topics.
The volunteer’s main role is to listen actively and capture the patient’s memories, either by writing them down or using a recording device. These memories are later compiled into a Memory Book, either by the volunteer or the volunteer coordinator—both ways are welcomed.
