Director of Fundraising (Volunteer)

Time Commitment: ~4 hours per month | Minimum 1 meeting per quarter

Maker Mindz is a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering K-12 students through hands-on STEM education, interactive tech tools, and inclusive learning opportunities. We bridge educational gaps by providing engaging, accessible programming in technology, engineering, and digital literacy.

We are looking for a strategic, community-minded Director of Fundraising to help Maker Mindz secure the resources needed to grow our educational initiatives. In this role, you will help design lightweight fundraising strategies, identify grant opportunities, and build donor relationships.

Key Responsibilities

• Strategy & Planning: Develop a high-level annual fundraising framework focused on small-scale grants, individual contributions, and digital campaigns.
• Grant Research: Identify and track potential foundation grants, corporate matching gifts, and community funding opportunities.
• Donor Engagement: Help draft outreach messaging and thank-you communications for donors and supporters.
• Governance & Syncs: Attend quarterly board/leadership check-ins to review progress and realign on fundraising goals.

Qualifications & Skills

• Experience or interest in non-profit fundraising, grant writing, or donor stewardship.
• Strong written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Passion for STEM education and expanding access for youth.

Compensation

This is a volunteer opportunity. Current compensation does not include a 401(k), employee pension, health insurance, vacation pay, sick pay, or other fringe benefits. However, this role provides valuable leadership, board-level governance, and non-profit management experience that is highly beneficial for both academic and industry career pathways.
