Social Media & Creative Content Volunteer
Detalhes
Descrição
Grounded Boots Relief is looking for creative, reliable Social Media & Digital Content Specialists to help tell our story, grow our audience, and keep our community connected to the work happening before, during, and after disasters.
We have plenty to talk about.
Our social media may cover disaster response, long-term recovery projects, severe weather preparedness, volunteer stories, training exercises, community events, fundraising campaigns, equipment, partnerships, and the occasional behind-the-scenes look at what it takes to keep a volunteer disaster relief organization moving.
This role will help turn those activities into engaging, consistent content across Grounded Boots Relief's social media platforms.
We're looking for people who understand social media as more than simply posting announcements. We want volunteers who can help us find stories, recognize opportunities, engage audiences, and experiment with new ways of getting people interested in what we do.
Responsibilities
- With guidance, develop and publish engaging social media content
- Help maintain a consistent posting schedule across organizational platforms
- Write captions and other short-form digital content
- Identify stories, photographs, videos, volunteer experiences, and organizational activities worth sharing
- Promote volunteer opportunities, trainings, community events, fundraising campaigns, and disaster-response activities
- Help tell the stories of volunteers, partners, donors, and communities served
- Coordinate with the Marketing team, Public Information Officer, Video Editor, and organizational leadership on content needs
- Adapt content appropriately for different social media platforms rather than simply publishing identical material everywhere
- Monitor comments, messages, engagement, and audience response when assigned
- Help identify trends and appropriate opportunities for Grounded Boots Relief to participate in online conversations
- Suggest new content series, campaigns, platforms, and creative approaches
- Assist with real-time or near-real-time communications during disaster operations when available
- Help maintain an organized library of photographs, graphics, videos, and other social media assets
- Follow organizational branding, privacy, and public-information standards
Graphic Design
Graphic design experience is welcome, but not required.
Volunteers with design experience may also help create:
- Social media graphics
- Event promotions
- Volunteer recruitment materials
- Fundraising graphics
- Preparedness information
- Sponsor and partner recognition
- Infographics and impact statistics
- Templates for recurring organizational content
Experience with Canva, Adobe Creative Cloud, or other design platforms is a plus.
Applicants without graphic design experience are absolutely encouraged to apply. Strong writing, creativity, social media instincts, photography, audience engagement, or content planning may be equally valuable.
What We're Looking For
You don't need to be a professional social media manager.
We're looking for people who are creative, dependable, comfortable with social media, and interested in figuring out what makes people stop scrolling and pay attention.
Experience managing social media accounts, creating digital content, writing captions, photography, graphic design, marketing, communications, or community engagement is helpful.
Students, emerging professionals, experienced marketers, and talented self-taught creators are all encouraged to apply.
Familiarity with platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, LinkedIn, or similar platforms is beneficial.
Location and Commitment
This position can be performed remotely. Volunteers do not need to live in Western North Carolina to participate.
Local volunteers may also have opportunities to attend events, trainings, recovery projects, and other activities to capture content firsthand.
We are looking for reasonably consistent involvement rather than a one-time project. Workload will vary based on deployments, events, campaigns, and organizational activity.
During major disasters or deployments, opportunities may arise for more frequent content and public updates. Availability during these periods is appreciated but not required.
Why This Role Matters
Most people will encounter Grounded Boots Relief online long before they ever meet one of our volunteers.
Our social media helps someone decide to volunteer, encourages a business to become a sponsor, shows a donor what their contribution accomplished, introduces a community to preparedness resources, and lets people know that recovery work continues long after a disaster disappears from the news.
Good social media does more than tell people what Grounded Boots Relief did; it gives them a reason to care about what happens next.
