Are you looking to make a meaningful impact beyond your day job and help end homelessness?

DISH is looking for exceptional leaders to join our Board of Directors during one of the most exciting moments in our organization's history.

Every day, DISH provides permanent supportive housing to more than 800 San Franciscans who have experienced chronic homelessness and serious health challenges. Our work doesn't stop at housing, we create communities where people can rebuild their lives with dignity, stability, and hope.

As an independent nonprofit with 95 employees, 9 properties, and an annual budget exceeding $20 million, we're growing, evolving, and building for the future. We're expanding our Board of Directors from 10 to 15 members and are intentionally seeking professionals whose expertise can help accelerate our impact.

We're Looking for Leaders With Expertise In:

Fundraising & Philanthropy

Do you have experience securing major gifts, cultivating donor relationships, leading corporate partnerships, or working with foundations? Your expertise can help DISH build a stronger culture of philanthropy, expand our network of supporters, and ensure we have the resources to serve more people experiencing homelessness. We're interested in leaders with strong Bay Area philanthropic relationships.

Employment & HR Law

Are you an attorney or senior HR leader with expertise in employment law, labor relations, workplace investigations, compliance, or nonprofit governance? As DISH continues to grow, your guidance will help strengthen our policies, governance, and organizational health while supporting a mission-driven workforce.

Marketing, Communications & Brand Strategy

Can you help organizations tell stories that inspire people to act? We're looking for leaders who understand branding, marketing strategy, audience engagement, digital communications, and messaging. Your expertise will help elevate DISH's voice, expand awareness of our work, and deepen community support.

Public Relations & Media

Do you know how to generate visibility, build partnerships, or position organizations as thought leaders? Help DISH amplify our impact through media relationships, strategic storytelling, public engagement, and advocacy.

Technology & Digital Innovation

Are you passionate about helping organizations work smarter? Whether your background is cybersecurity, IT leadership, systems implementation, AI, digital transformation, or technology strategy, you'll help strengthen DISH's infrastructure and prepare the organization for the future.

Board Commitment

Board members:

• Attend approximately six Board meetings annually
• Serve on at least one Board committee
• Participate in an annual half-day retreat
• Support fundraising and serve as ambassadors for DISH within their professional and community networks

Previous nonprofit board experience is welcomed but not required. We value diverse perspectives and strongly encourage candidates with lived experience related to homelessness, housing instability, behavioral health, or other social justice issues to apply.
