    Descrição

These special volunteers come to the build site regularly to guide less experienced volunteers. It’s a modest monthly commitment, and you’ll receive training.

A great Habitat Crew Leader doesn’t have to have professional experience in building or construction, but familiarity with tools and building materials is preferred. You just need a positive, friendly attitude and patience to guide those new to a construction site.

At this time we do not accept court appointed community service hour requests.

    Instruções:

    CREW LEADER PROGRAM

Background: Crew Leaders are trained volunteers who guide, support, and supervise volunteer build crews on Habitat construction sites. Through leadership and teamwork, Crew Leaders help create a safe, inclusive environment where volunteers and partner families work together to build strength, stability, and self-reliance through shelter.

    Criteria:

    • Must be at least 18 years old
    • Works well independently as well as with groups
    • Comfortable working in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and debris. This position requires the extended use of PPE including hard hats, masks, and harnesses.
    • Strong communication and leadership skills
    • As understanding and communication of safety and technical instructions to volunteers is a significant part of this role, English fluency is required.
    • Demonstrates mutual respect towards supervisors, volunteers, and partner families
    • Successfully pass a criminal background check

    Policy:

Adult volunteers may become Crew Leaders after they:

    1. Attend a Crew Leader Info Session
    2. Complete four trial shifts and are approved by Construction Team.
    3. Sign a waiver to allow HR to run a criminal background check, which is used as a risk-management and safety measure to help protect staff, volunteers, partner families, and the communities we serve by allowing HGOO to make informed decisions regarding site access and volunteer or contractor engagement.
    4. Once clear, they have two weeks to complete online training courses, which are required to ensure all individuals on Habitat sites understand their responsibility to maintain a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment. They then get one long sleeved shirt and/or one short sleeved shirt in their preferred size.

Adult volunteers may remain Crew Leaders by maintaining the following:

    1. Crew Leaders are expected to attend at least one (1) shift each month.
    2. Crew Leaders are expected to effectively communicate with HGOO staff regarding scheduling and will be removed from Crew Leader status after three no call/no show instances.
    3. Crew Leaders must renew their online training courses annually; background checks must be renewed every three years.
