Overview
Morrison Mentors is seeking dedicated volunteers to support our STEM education team. This volunteer position offers hands-on experience in emerging technologies while making a meaningful impact in K-12 education across Long Island. Volunteers work alongside our paid STEM Assistants to deliver engaging programming to students.
Volunteer Details
- Duration: Full semester commitment required
- Service Hours: Eligible for volunteer hour requirements (Greek Life, honor societies, academic programs)
- Role: Support STEM Assistants in delivering educational programming
Available Schedule time windows to pick from (Select One):
- Monday & Wednesday: 12:00 PM – 6:00 PM
- Wednesday & Friday: 12:00 PM – 6:00 PM
- Monday, Wednesday & Friday: 12:00 PM – 6:00 PM
- Tuesday & Thursday: 12:00 PM – 6:00 PM
Comprehensive Training Provided
You will receive hands-on training in multiple STEM disciplines, including:
- 3D Printing & Laser Cutting
- Computer Programming & Hardware
- CNC Machine Operation
- Vinyl Printing Technology
- Solar Energy Systems
- Drone Automation
- Additional Emerging Technologies
Following technical training, you will learn age-appropriate instructional methods to effectively teach these concepts to K-12 students in engaging, accessible ways.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist STEM Assistants in delivering interactive STEM programs for K-12 students
- Support hands-on activities that develop problem-solving, critical thinking, and scientific inquiry skills
- Help guide students through experiments, equipment usage, and data analysis
- Assist with setup and maintenance of STEM exhibits and learning stations
- Help prepare instructional materials for scheduled programming
- Support positive classroom environment and student behavior management
- Collaborate with teaching team to ensure program effectiveness
- Assist with documentation and reporting as needed-

Location & Transportation
Primary Location: 250 Fulton Ave, Hempstead, NY
Transportation: Complimentary shuttle service provided from our Hempstead location to partner school sites across Long Island.
All volunteers must be able to commute to our Hempstead location.*
