Litter Index Volunteers

We're looking for volunteers to assist with litter assessments at designated locations throughout Kansas City, Missouri. This is a flexible, mostly self-directed opportunity that's perfect for volunteers who enjoy contributing to community improvement projects on their own schedule.

What You'll Do

• Visit assigned assessment points in your area of KCMO.
• Use the Survey123 app to record observations.
• Rate litter levels using a simple litter scale.
• Submit your findings through the survey.

Time Commitment

• Approximately 5 hours total.
• Volunteers are welcome to contribute more time if they're interested, but only a modest commitment is expected.

Training & Support

• We'll provide instructions on how to use Survey123 and apply the litter rating scale.
• Once you're comfortable with the process, the work can be completed independently and at your convenience.

Location

Assessment points are located throughout Kansas City, Missouri. Whenever possible, assignments will be based on where you live to minimize travel time. For example, volunteers who live north of the river will be assigned locations nearby rather than traveling across the city.
