    Position Overview

    Mentor A Promise (MAP) is seeking a reliable and experienced Volunteer IT Administrator to support the organization's technology operations. This individual will play a key role in managing volunteer onboarding and offboarding, providing day-to-day IT support, maintaining user accounts and access, and helping ensure our technology systems operate smoothly.

    This role is ideal for someone who enjoys building organized processes, solving technical problems, and contributing their expertise to a mission-driven nonprofit organization.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Manage and optimize Google Workspace administrative settings, ensuring configurations align with security and operational best practices.
    • Identify and implement automation opportunities for on-boarding/off-boarding workflows, including proactive monitoring of sign-in logs and account lockouts.
    • Manage the technical onboarding and offboarding process for volunteers and staff.
    • Create, modify, and deactivate user accounts across organizational systems.
    • Provide first-line technical support for volunteers, including login issues, account access, and basic troubleshooting.
    • Maintain accurate records of user accounts, permissions, and technology assets.
    • Monitor onboarding progress and proactively follow up with volunteers who have not completed required technology setup.
    • Assist with documentation, standard operating procedures, and technology guides.
    • Support the implementation and improvement of IT processes and workflows.
    • Collaborate with organizational leadership to identify technology needs and recommend improvements.
    • Help ensure security best practices are followed, including appropriate account management and access controls.

    Qualifications

    • Previous experience in IT administration, help desk, systems administration, or a related technology role.
    • Comfortable administering common cloud platforms such as Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace.
    • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
    • Excellent organizational skills with careful attention to detail.
    • Ability to manage multiple tasks independently and follow through on commitments.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Demonstrated ability to communicate proactively, provide regular status updates, and respond promptly to requests.
    • Passion for supporting nonprofit organizations and working collaboratively with volunteers.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience developing or improving onboarding and offboarding processes.
    • Familiarity with identity and access management concepts.
    • Experience documenting technical procedures.
    • Knowledge of basic cybersecurity and account security best practices.

    Time Commitment

    • Approximately 5–10 hours per week
    • Ability to meet weekly with team
    • Ability to respond to time-sensitive onboarding or support requests within a reasonable timeframe.

    The successful volunteer will:

    • Ensure new volunteers receive timely access to the tools they need.
    • Maintain organized and accurate IT records.
    • Communicate proactively about progress, questions, and potential issues.
    • Help create scalable, repeatable IT processes that support MAP's continued growth.
    • Serve as a dependable technology partner for the organization and its volunteers.
