Dear Applicant,
The Yiddish Arts and Academic Association of North America (YAAANA) and its project called Yiddishland California, based in San Diego, California and in La Paz, MX, are looking for a Grant Writer/Fundraiser intern. The mission of YAAANA and Yiddishland California is to promote Yiddish language and culture through academic and artistic events. We are currently seeking an organized, energetic, and diligent individual to assist us with our fundraising projects, including conducting outreach to organizations and donors and assisting with the preparation and submission of grant applications. No knowledge of the Yiddish language is required. Familiarity with Jewish culture is a plus. Our interns receive free access to all YAAANA events and classes, as well as access to the YAAANA archives.
Internships are unpaid, but can be taken for college credit or for the OPT. This internship is remote.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Calling organizations/grant makers to inquire about donations and grants.
- Calling donors, such as private individuals and foundations, regarding funding.
- Drafting and submitting grant applications.
- Creating fundraising campaigns.
Qualifications
- Completion of relevant college-level coursework, such as progress towards a degree in marketing, finance, nonprofit management, business administration, or a related field.
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong initiative and creativity.
Skills Development
- Interns will master the ability to draft grant proposals, developing their communication skills with individual donors and large corporations alike.
- Interns will become proficient in producing verbal and written donation requests.
- Intern will gain experience in creating fundraising campaigns.
Estimated Duration
Full-time: preferably 8, minimum 6- week engagement with a minimum commitment of 40 hours per week, 270 hours total
Part-time: preferably 16, minimum 12-week engagement with a minimum commitment of 21 hours per week, 270 hours total
OPT: 21 hours per week, 270 hours total
Longer internships with a less demanding time commitment are available upon request.
If an intern wishes to receive academic credit, it is their responsibility to confirm eligibility and any approval requirements with their academic institution prior to starting the internship.
