    Descrição

This role helps communities better prepare for home fires and other emergencies. Most emergencies we respond to are home fires, and many injuries and deaths from fires can be prevented with simple safety steps.

In this position, you will help lead a local team that works directly in neighborhoods to improve home safety. The team installs smoke alarms, shares fire‑safety information, and helps families create simple plans to stay safe during emergencies.

You will support, guide, and organize team members, making sure activities are planned and carried out effectively. You may lead or support community events, work with local organizations, track supplies like smoke alarms, and help report on program activities. This work may take place in person or virtually, depending on local needs.

The time commitment is about 6 to 8 hours per week. All training is provided, and a one‑year commitment is requested.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Provide ongoing support and supervision to team members
    • Help plan and assign community safety activities
    • Lead or support home fire safety events
    • Build relationships with local partners and community organizations
    • Help manage and track safety supplies and materials
    • Support basic reporting and program tracking
    • Participate in meetings and local emergency preparedness activities
    • Follow safety guidelines for in‑person activities

    Qualifications

    Required Skills and Experience

    • Ability to build and lead a team in a supportive and collaborative way
    • Strong integrity, compassion, and professionalism
    • Ability to work independently and follow guidance with little supervision
    • Comfortable adapting to change and solving problems as they arise
    • Ability to work respectfully with people from diverse backgrounds
    • Strong communication and relationship‑building skills
    • Ability to address issues, manage conflict, and support team performance

    Additional Requirements

    • Willingness to commit for at least one year
    • Ability to give 6 to 8 hours per week
    • Willingness to follow health and safety policies for in‑person activities
