    Descrição

    About the OSJVS

The Vaudreuil-Soulanges Youth Symphony Orchestra (OSJVS) nurtures the next generation of musicians by teaching orchestral and chamber music. Our mission is to help young musicians develop their musical and ensemble skills while encouraging them to share their passion.

    The Opportunity

We are seeking a Volunteer Grant Research & Coordinator to help lay the foundation of our long-term fundraising strategy. This pivotal administrative role focuses on identifying potential funders and creating the operational framework for future fundraising initiatives through grants.

Your work will directly support our ability to sustain and grow youth music programs in the community.

    Key Responsibilities

    • You will focus on the planning and preparatory phase of our grant program, including:
    • Strategic Research: Identify government (Quebec/Federal) and foundation grants aligned with OSJVS’s mission — especially those supporting youth, arts education, and Quebec composers.
    • Grant Calendar Development: Build a centralized grant calendar outlining all identified opportunities for the next 6–12 months.
    • Milestone Mapping: Record external deadlines, notification dates, and reporting requirements.
    • Internal Planning: Establish internal drafting and approval timelines to ensure timely submissions.
    • Information Library: Collect and organize key organizational materials (mission, financial summaries, board list, past grant info, etc.) for easy access in future applications.

    Ideal Candidate Profile

We’re looking for a proactive and detail-oriented volunteer who enjoys research and organization.

    Essential skills:

    • Strong organizational and project management abilities
    • Solid research and data synthesis skills (experience with online grant databases is an asset)
    • Comfortable using spreadsheets (Google Sheets, Excel)
    • Clear written communication and ability to summarize findings for the Executive Director
    • Interest in arts, youth development, or community organizations

    Time Commitment

    • This role is designed with flexibility in mind:
    • Initial Setup Phase: 4–8 weeks (3–5 hours/week).
    • Ongoing Maintenance: 2–4 hours/month to update and monitor the grant calendar.

We welcome volunteers who can work independently and manage their own schedule while contributing meaningfully to our mission.

    Why Join Us

    By volunteering with OSJVS, you’ll:

    • Help strengthen arts education for youth in your community
    • Build experience in nonprofit fundraising and strategic grant planning
    • Collaborate with a passionate and creative team dedicated to making music accessible
    • Gain firsthand insight into how arts organizations plan and prepare for successful grant funding
